HCHS held their Carter House Christmas Open House on Saturday, December 13 and Sunday, December 14 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM each day. The plantation house had each room decorated in holiday décor from the past and present. Visitors enjoyed their tour as well as some of the history of the Federal style house built between 1817-1820. As they finished the tour they were treated with refreshments.
Each person that purchased a ticket was entered in the drawing for a door prize and the winner was Ms. Nancy Johnson. Ms. Johnson said she works at the Capitol in Baton Rouge and came with a friend from Denham Springs.
In addition to the admission ticket sales there was a raffle with tickets sold at the door. The lucky winner of this prize was Matthew Foster who lives in Springfield. When the phone calls were made to these winners they all expressed how much they enjoyed their tour of the house.
