You are all invited to the Christmas Open House at the Historic Carter House on Sun., Dec. 18 at 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM. This event is hosted by the Historic Carter House Society Inc. (HCHS). We have each room decorated in holiday décor; with decorations from the past and the present. Tours will be given about the history of the plantation, the Carter House is the only plantation in Livingston Parish.
Tickets will be sold at the door, $5.00 for adults, children under the age of 12 admitted free, as are HCHS members. Each ticket will be entered in a drawing for a door prize. The drawing will be held after the Open House is over. We also have a raffle basket that was donated to help raise funds to go toward restoration work on the Carter House. Tickets are $5.00/each or 3/$12.00 so this is a better deal for you. The basket has two bottles of wine, one red and one white, just about all the kinds of chocolate you can think of, nuts, and a few other items. An estimate for the value of the basket is close to $100.00. so you could even have some Christmas gifts for your friends.
Memberships are available and we welcome those who would like to help preserve a piece of history. Annual Memberships are $30.00/individual and $40.00/family. You can get a form while you are at the Open House, fill it out and leave it with the HCHS members at the front desk, it will save you from mailing the form. The proceeds from memberships, the open house, and the raffle will go toward restoration work to the Carter House. In case you don’t want to become a member you can still make a donation and it will be a tax deduction since HCHS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and you would use the same form as the one for membership and check the area to designate it is a donation .
