The historic Carter House is a great place to tour, so just give the HCHS a call at 225-747-0660 to make arrangements.  The house is not open daily for tours but our organization will be happy to work with you to arrange a convenient time for your tour.  The house is an architecturally significant local example of middle class architecture.  The house is fully furnished with some antique pieces that, along with the history you will hear, will help you imagine how families lived in years past.

Not only will you enjoy touring the house but you will enjoy a stroll on the lawn with abundant Southern magnolias, crepe myrtles and massive oaks providing an old-world ambiance, ideal for lawn parties and picnics.

While you are here for your tour you will be able to see the Carter House Quilt Trail, pictured above.  Their quilt trail is a part of the Louisiana Quilt Trail Northshore.  A Quilt Trail is the exhibition of artistic interpretations (painted and mixed media) of quilt blocks outdoors on Homes, Businesses, Sheds, Fences and Barns or on Posts in the Yard, Field, Pasture or Flower Bed.

There will be a small fee based on the number of people you have for the tour, if it is a couple of people the tour will be $5.00/person but if you have a number of people we will give you a break depending on how many people are in your group.

Please give us a call, we enjoy sharing the history of the house and property with everyone!

Visit LNQT Online and read the stories explaining the images in each block:  www.LouisianaQuiltTrail.com or www.Facebook.com/LouisianaQuiltTrail.
